At one time I was the co-Administrator of a popular message board known as THE GATHERING. At it's height, it was a well known site for discussion and debate on issues pertaining to current events, politics, religion, culture, & the arts. We had members from all over the world and sometimes the discourses became very heated and passionate.

But for some unknown reason, the other co-Administrator DELETED (*I know, I know... had sad*) the entire board and all it's archived posts and the many nuggets of wisdom and lore it contained.

A few of you have emailed me and asked me if it would be possible to RESSURECT The Gathering from the ashes and bring it back to life.

While I cannot restore the old board and ressurect those old posts - I can start fresh again - this time I would be the sole Adminstrator so NO-ONE would be able to delete, censor, or ban anybody or any issue, topic, question or idea EVER AGAIN. I'm talking about a REAL Round Table here. No bars held. No taboos.

We could have forums broken down into Arts, History, Culture, Politics, Religion, Creative Writing and so on.

There would be NO rules - NO TABOOS -  no body could be banned - and besides spam or other advertisements, no posts would ever be deleted.

What do you think? Would you come to such a forum to express your view and mingle with others across the globe to debate and discuss current events and their relationship to history, politics, religion, and the arts?

This entry will just be a short of list of interesting things going on you may not get to hear through the American Media.

1. The European Space Agency's "Huygens" probe, which seperated from it's mother ship, the "Cassini" landed on Saturn's moon Titan today. It apparently hit solid land and did not splash into a body of liquid hydrocarbons (which would not have been good). The "Huygens" probe has sent back a strong carrier signal to the "Cassini" spacecraft orbiting Saturn and will begin to send meaningful data soon. It will analyze the soil and ice's chemical composition, looking for signs of life. It is thought that exotic forms of life may exist on at least a few of these planetary moons - Jupiter's Europa and Saturn's Titan are the two primary candidates, so this is a pretty big deal in our ongoing exploration of space and expansion out to the stars.

2. The Bush Administration is under fire from the NY based Human Rights Watch for crimes against humanity due to American mistreatment of prisoners in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guant'namo Bay. A new report indicates that many nations who once looked to America as a leader and champion of human rights are now citing American abuses and authorized torture as legal precedents for allowing the use of abuse and torture in their own countries.

Thus - what the Bush Admininstration has effectively done is move the Global Human Rights movement back a century by allowing and even authorizing the torture and murder of enemy combatants and suspected criminals. Not since before the Third Geneva Convention of 1929 has there been such lawlessness and a lack of respect for human life during warfare.

"This recent return to barbarism by the American military has been noticed by many of the nations of the world and many of them are now repealing Human Rights laws and protections, citing the Bush Administrations disregard for such laws as the precedent."

How sad that America has fallen so far under the bad leadership of one man.

Can you believe that physicists are on the verge of completely abandoning the Big Bang theory? It seems recent observations disprove the red shift theory of galactic expansion. The Universe didn't have to be all crunched up into one singular point which exploded outwards and is still expanding.

Now it looks more like our Universe is a bubble being blown into the Void through a hyperspace conduit. We are like the glass bulb on the end of a glassblowers pipe. The time/space continuim is like the outer shell of a hyperspace bubble, and the galaxies inside are like little bits of frothy spittle being forced through the pipe and into the hyperspace framework of the bubble.

So - we could be at just the tip of the iceberg. There might be a boundless, infinite Universe or a whole string or series of Universes all being squeezed through a whole host of these hyperspace conduits like jelly being pressed through a seive.

Something about the hyperspacic squeezing - like when you take a barely inflated ballon and squeeze it into a tight bubble - distorts whatever the Void or the Ether is just enough to generate the phenomenon we know as the time space continuim - the matter then gets sprayed inside, albeit we're talking about possibly a 10 dimensional influx of matter and energy here so it's not QUITE that easily explained and reduced to an analogy.

And time isn't a constant either. We've discovered it's moving faster in some places and slower in others. We are just experiencing a very tiny piece of 'overall time', so it SEEMS constant to us - but in fact, time is racing forwards and then slowing nearly to a standstill and then breaking free and racing forward all around us at many various points in our Universe. Time is relative. I mean REALLY relative.

Thus, or children may grow up in a world where the Big Bang Theory seems quaint, simplistic, and certainly obsolete - but isn't that just mind boggling? We were raised with that theory as kids and as adults we've just assumed THAT's the way things are - they must be - of course.... but now that concept may be entirely wrong... I wonder what else will be proven entirely wrong in our lifetimes? What givens that we take for granted today - will be overturned - and seem absolutely silly tomorrow?

It is truly sad to see what engaging in fierce combat can do to a person - it definitely changes them for life. To be exposed to so much violence and horror at such a young age - its so unfair and unjust. I wonder if George W. Bush Jr. has any idea whatsoever of the devastating emotional maelstrom he is sending thousands upon thousands of young Americans into?

Those courageous and honorable kids who escape being chewed up by the War Machine will return home and become adults in our society for decades to come... but will they ever be able to return to "normal" once they come home? How does one go from an intense life and death situation like urban warfare in Fallujah to looking for a job and not breaking any laws in a withered American economy?

There is going to be a LOT of bitterness and frustration for some time to come, and I highly doubt George W. Bush gives a damn as to what happens to any of them.

If America goes ahead and confines "suspects held without evidence" for life sentences - then America has become a Fascist nation and no longer deserves to be called a Democracy.

Since the election, it seems, we Christians have been on the chopping block. We are not surprised, beaten, insulted nor angry. These things are already predicted in the Bible. Christ said, "Blessed are you when men shall revile you, and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you, for great is your reward in heaven." All these unkind words are fulfilling prophecy.

But let's be honest. Who cares for the poor, hungry, homeless, ill and downtrodden? Blame it on the Christians; we gladly carry that yoke. How can anyone deny that America was established on Christian principles? You can remove the symbols that refer to God, but you cannot remove God. He will still be God, long after this generation of people is in their graves.

Call us what you will, but we are not going away either. As long as God gives life to us, we will defend him to the end.

In response to Alice R. Lingbeck's letter (1/1/04) asking why Christians are so reviled in our nation I offer this.

It is not Christianity, nor Christ, nor even his teachings or philosophies that non-Christians abhor. It is when materialistic, greedy, power hungry politicians use Christianity as a means to discriminate and enforce their personally preferred way of life onto others that we speak up and point out the hypocrisy and arrogance of such oppression.

Christians by their very nature are members of a SPIRITUAL government! The whole point Jesus was making was that you should have absolutely no part of the MATERIAL goverments of this earth! Render unto Caesar what is Caesars! OBEY your worldly leaders, and certainly don't BECOME them. Because ONLY by living an authentic spiritual life will you be able to transcend the sinful influences of the material world.

Christianity was never meant to be a political movement nor a theory of government. In fact, it MUST be absolutely seperate and aloof from worldly politics in order to be effective as an authentic spiritual path.

It's not that hard to understand. It's very clear in the New Testament:

Submission to the Authorities

¹Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. Christians are to be SUBJECT to the ruling material authorities - i.e. the Government because their kingdom is of the spirit, NOT of this world. They aren't supposed to waste their energies trying to make laws and reform the masses. That's missing the point ENTIRELY!

According to Jesus himself, the world and its governments are completely unimportant to the Christian, for his or her direction is SPIRITUAL, not MATERIAL.

Christianty has lost this most important principle but NEEDS DESPERATELY to regain it in order to be a valid, authentic SPIRITUAL path.

If Christianity concerns itself with worldy politics, it is nothing more than another imperfect human political movement.

It is only when you become a SPIRITUAL CHRISTIAN, and leave behind the concept of being a MATERIAL CHRISTIAN that the doors to the SPIRITUAL KINGDOM open up for you.

 

It's that simple. It's right in front of you. All you have to do it walk through the door.
